Funeral services for 78 year old Ileane K. Blake of Letts, Iowa, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at the Muscatine Seventh Day Adventist Church, Muscatine. Burial was in the Letts Cemetery.

Ileane Blake died Sunday at the Wapello Care Center, Wapello. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine, with the family present. A memorial has been established at the funeral home.

Ileane Katheryne Smith was born March 10, 1920 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Bert and Kate Dent Landon Smith. She married Madeleo Wagner Blake, June 19, 1963, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Ileane taught school for 45 years. She had taught in Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas and Iowa. Ileane taught 1st grade for 36 years at the L-M School. While teaching school Ileane herself returned to college and earned her masters degree, graduating from the University of Iowa in 1972.

Ileane was a member of the Muscatine Seventh Day Adventist Church where she had been church organist for many years. Ileane had also been a teacher at the Adventist school prior to working at L-M. Ileane was a member of the Letts Federated Club, the Gran-Cord Farm Bureau and the Retired School Personnel of Louisa County and Iowa.

Ileane is survived by her step-children, Warren Blake of Milton, Iowa, Jackie Kemp, Letts, Mrs. Mike (Janet) Budds, Las Vegas, Nevada, Justin Blake, California, Julia Humpreys, Fruitland, and Mrs. Steven (Jody) Fuller, Columbus Junction. There are 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving is a nephew, Roger E. Landon, Puxico, Missouri.

Ileane was preceded in death by her parents; a half sister, her husband, Madeleo, a step-daughter, Judith, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Cook.
