Orin P. "Pete" Biggerstaff, age 92, of Wapello, died Wednesday morning, March 4, 1998, at the Wapello Nursing & Care Center. The son of Orin and Minnie Berchel Biggerstaff, he was born in Nebraska on April 20, 1905.

He married Florence A. Warth on Nov. 3, 1928 at Burlington. She died on Sept. 6, 1981.

Pete was a farmer and had worked at the Wapello Livestock Sales Company and had retired from Parish DX Station.

He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church at Burlington. Pete enjoyed gardening, his pets, and playing cards and croquet.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth L. Biggerstaff, Davenport, and James O. Biggerstaff, Wapello. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and three brothers.

The funeral service for Orin "Pete" Biggerstaff was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello, the Rev. Carl J. Engstrom officiating. Organist was Bev Parsons. Burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery. Casket bearers included Scott Biggerstaff, Curtis Biggerstaff, Tony Johnson, and Joe Biggerstaff.

The family met with friends Friday evening at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Community Ambulance Service or the Wapello Nursing & Care Center.
