Phillip E. Bigger, 80, of Oquawka, Ill., died at 3 p.m. Monday, June 21, 1999, as a result of an accident west of New London, Iowa.

Born Jan. 9, 1919, in Biggsville, Ill., he was the son of Cavart and Zella Milligan Bigger. He married Pauline W. Dixon, June 30, 1961, in the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa.

He was a graduate of Gladstone High School. Mr. Bigger was a farmer all of his life, farming in Henderson county on the Bigger family farm near Biggsville, Ill. He was a life-long member of the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church. He loved his family and the fellowship and coffee with his friends.

Survivors include his loving wife, Pauline; one daughter, Merri Fillman (her fiance, Carl Dilger) of Danvers, Ill.; one son, Jim (Sue) Dixon of Gladstone, Ill.; three granddaughters, Bobbi Jo Dixon of Wichita, Kan., Stephani Lyn Dixon of Burlington, Iowa, and Valentina Filman of Danvers, Ill.; two grandsons, Jimmy Dixon of Burlington, Iowa and Tom Fillman of Danvers, Ill., two sisters, Olive (Clyde) Bailey of Oquawka, Ill., and Helen McAllister of Burlington, Iowa; one brother, William C. Bigger of Biggsville, Ill.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.

His family received friends Sunday evening, June 27, at Sederwall Chapel in Biggsville, Ill.

The funeral for Mr. Bigger was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 28, at the Bisggsville United Presbyterian Church in Biggsville, Ill., with the Rev. William Morse officiating. Burial was in the Biggsville Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Biggsville United presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Bigger is the former Pauline Small Dixon, daughter of the late Vern and Lena Small, Wapello.
