Eunice A. Bierman, 85, of Muscatine, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at her home. The funeral service was Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with the Rev. Arturo Carranza of the Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Church officiating. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Barbara Swailes and husband Larry, Mark Carter, Bob Coyner, Melissa Bierman and Kristy Bierman. Burial followed in Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bierman was born Oct. 8, 1918, in Lockwood, Mo., the daughter of Clinton and Florence Vetter Hoag. She married Charley A. Bierman on Feb. 23, 1941, in Muscatine.

She was a member of the Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Church. She enjoyed quilting and sewing.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth C. Bierman and wife Tammy of Muscatine; three daughters, Janice Dougherty and husband Donald of St. Charles, Helen Coyner and husband Kenton of Muscatine and Gladys Murphy and husband Patrick of Wapello; five grandchildren; two brothers, John Hoag and wife Esther of Lyle, Minn., and Charles Hoag and wife Freda of Columbus Junction; and three sisters, Dorothy Stoudt of Davenport, Ruth Westgard and husband, Wayne of Taylor Ridge, Ill., and Laura Bird and husband Ira of Syracuse, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2002, and one son, Gerald Bierman.
