George Curtis Black Died August 27, 1971

George Curtis Black of Letts died at 5:45 a.m. August 27, 1971, at the Muscatine General Hospital following a several weeks illness at the age of 58 years, 9 months and 9 days.

Mr. Black was born November 18, 1912, and was the son of Elmer and Bertha Foster Black. On November 18, 1941 he married Alberta Metcalf at Muscatine. He was a life resident of the Letts area and was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, James of Letts and Harry of Wapello; one brother, Arthur of Nichols; one sister, Mrs. Anita Parish of Montpelier; and one grandchild.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Letts Independent United Brethren Church with Rev. J. W. Glasscock officiating. Mrs. J.W. Glasscock was organist. Casket bearers were Robert Schmidt, Lloyd Crumly, Joe Boulton, John Padgett, Max Hafner and Noel Townsley.

Burial was in the Letts Cemetery in charge of the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home.
