COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa - Archie F. "Jack" Bell Jr., 68, Columbus Junction, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction. Burial will be at Indian Creek Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home.

Mr. Bell was born July 15, 1934, in McClelland, the son of Archie Francis and Martha Clara Frerichs Bell.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He worked at Central Can, Muscatine, for 15 years, retiring in 1997.

He enjoyed playing cribbage, growing flowers, feeding the birds, writing letters and celebrating Christmas. He loved his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Gordon Bell of Ava, Mo.; daughters, Sherry Bell of Ava, Cathy Craig and husband David of Elizabeth, Ill. and Connie Downs of Lanark, Ill.; two sisters, Ella Engle and Delores Smith, both of Raymondville, Mo.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild and his companion Wanda Hoskins of Columbus Junction.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant grandson, Braxton Bell; an infant brother; and an infant sister.
