Fred Congrove Dies at Iowa City
Long Time Resident Succumbs after Short Illness

Fred W. Congrove, 77, long time resident of Morning Sun and well known throughout this community passed away at the University Hospital in Iowa City last Friday following a short illness.

Mr. Congrove had been confined to his home for some days because of a foot injury. Later he was taken to the hospital where he was stricken with pneumonia and in his weakened condition he suffered a stroke which proved fatal. The body was brought to the Pierce funeral home in Morning Sun. Funeral services were held Monday in the Free Methodist church with Rev. Darrel Hart in charge. Interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
OBITUARY

Fred Willard Congrove, son of John and Mary Congrove was born November 16, 1868, and passed away April 6, 1945 at the University Hospital at Iowa City. He came to this community when a boy. He was married to Kate Brug, who died in 1898. To this union was born one son, Gene, who survives.

Later in life he was married to Lola Shane. Surviving besides his wife and son are two grandsons, John and Raymond, both in the service, one granddaughter, Mrs. Vivian Reutinger of Mt. Pleasant, four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Windmiller of Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Ola Marshall of Washington D.C., Mrs. Anna Bachman of Waterloo, Mrs. Lizzie Minister of Denver, Colorado, one brothers, Charles of Chicago, Illinois, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Fred has spent most of his life in Morning Sun and he will be greatly missed by a host of friends.
