JOHN GIBBS DIES SUNDAY
Death Follows Stroke Suffered Last Week

John Gibbs, for the past year a resident of Morning Sun, died at 6 pm Sunday at the Burlington Hospital where he had been taken a week ago for treatment following a stroke. Mr. Gibbs had moved to Morning Sun in 1943 from a farm in the Marsh community and was engaged in the insurance business prior to his death.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in carge of Rev. O. L. Byrns, assisted by Rev. E. F. Kimmelshue. Burial services in charge of the Mt. Union Masonic lodge of which Mr. Gibbs was a member, were at the Elmwood, Illinois cemetery.

John Gibbs, son of Oren and Carrie Wicketsheimer Gibbs, was born near Elmwood, Illinois, on December 18, 1885, but spent the greater part of his life in the Marsh vicinity. He was married on November 22, 1905 to Ethel Burge who survives. Besides his wife, Mr. Gibbs is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Vera Toore of Grinnell, and two sons, Harold and Orville of Morning Sun; his mother Mrs. Carrie Gibbs, Morning Sun; a brother, Lucian Gibbs, of Mt. Union and five grandchildren.

Mr. Gibbs as a member of the Mt. Union Masonic lodge and at the time of his death he was Worthy Patron of the Mt. Union O.E.S.
