Dessa Weaver Ballard Died in California

Mrs. Dessa Weaver Ballard of 522 Chestnut Street, San Carlos, California died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 1961 at a San Carlos hospital following a few days illness with a heart condition.

Mrs. Ballard, a former Letts resident, was born November 17, 1884, at Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Fredrick and Anna Miller Weaver. She was a graduate of the Letts high school in 1910 and for a number of years was superintendent of the Bellevue hospital at Muscatine. Mrs. Ballard was a niece of the late Dr. A.J. Weaver of Muscatine.

She served for several years as a public health nurse in Oklahoma and the state of Washington and had resided at San Carlos since her marriage on January 7, 1936 to George Ballard. She was a member of the Methodist church at San Carlos.

Mrs. Ballard's parents, husband and two brothers, Ervin and Fredrick Weaver preceded her in death. she is survivied by two sisters, Mrs. Alta price of Glendale, California and Mrs. Gladys McCleary of Letts and nine nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at San Carlos and burial will be in the Presidio at San Francisco, California.

Mrs. Gladys McCleary of Letts left Saturday night for California for the funeral service of her sister, Mrs. Ballard.
