E. Pierce Baker, 82, of the Golden Age Home, formerly of Golf View Drive, Route 5, Chippewa Falls, WI died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1988 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.

He was born February 12, 1905 in Wapello, Iowa to Kate H. (Pierce) and Horace William Baker. He grew up in Wapello and attended the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He married A. Marie Archibald on Dec. 31, 1924 in Fort Madison, Iowa.

After their marriage they resided in the state of Iowa where he attended Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, and then was employed as a county office supply salesman. He retired in June 1980. They moved to Chippewa Falls in May 1982. He had been a resident of the Golden Age Home since June 1987.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathrene (Joseph) Mandelert of Chippewa Falls; a granddaughter, Julie Korpady, Madison; a grandson, James Mandelert, Chippewa Falls; and one great-grandson, Mitchell Pierce Mandelert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Aug. 14, 1987; and three brothers, Kenneth, Vern and William Baker.

A funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Barry Boyer of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Memorials to St. Joseph's Hospital Auxilliary are preferred.
