Clair HESSELTINE dies in Iowa City

Clair L. HESSELTINE, 77, 2221 Muscatine Avenue of Iowa City, died at Mercy Hospital Thursday morning, May 17, 1984.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home in Iowa City with the Rev. Rober Welsh officiating. Burial was in the Union Cememtery, Iowa Falls.

The son of Fremont Leroy and Dora Alice THOMPSON-HESSELTINE, he was born April 7, 1907, in Marion Township, Washington County, Iowa.

He married Frances Evelyn HANKINS on October 24, 1928, in Columbus Junction. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles, both of Iowa City. He had worked as a carpenter.

Survivors include two sons, Bill of Iowa City and Larry of Fort Dodge; one daughter, Joy McFall of Iowa City; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert, of Columbus Junction; and two sisters, Shirley McCullough of Conesville and Gladys Schnekel of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1968, three sisters and a brother.
