Oldest resident of Grandview dies

Mrs. Angeline Winder Martin, oldest resident of Grandview, died at her home Friday, attaining the age of 88 years and nine months. She had spent her entire life in that community.

Mrs. Martin, the oldest daughter of David and Anna Winder, was born in Grandview October 15, 1848. She was married to James Martin, a Civil War veteran, on December 29(?), 1866. His death occurred June 15, 1899.

Five children were born to the couple; two sons, William and Bertie dying in infancy, Nellie G. Latta, Jackson and Vinnie E. Gamble, also deceased, and Harry O. Martin of Muscatine. Her parents, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Brown and Mrs. Emma Williams, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are the son, Harry O. Martin, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.

Funeral rites were held at the Grandview Community church at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. C.B. Larson, pastor, in charge. Burial was at Grandview Cemetery.
