W. E. Reed's house caught fire from a defective flue Thursday afternoon about four o'clock. It had gained considerable headway when discovered. The alarm was promptly given over the wires and soon the neighbors responded with buckets of water and ladders, and in a short time they had the fire extinguished. Quite a hole was burned in the roof and the furniture was slightly damaged.
