Mrs. Dan Beik presided as hostess at her home near Grandview Thursday afternoon to a company of friends and relatives, the affair being in the nature of a pre-nuptial miscellaneous shower which complimented her niece Miss Mabel Jarvis, who is soon to become the bride of Mr. Glenn Persinger, of near Wapello.

The home was prettily decorated with white chrysanthemums for the occasion and the hours were spent informallly and with much merriment.

Miss Jarvis is well and favorably known to a large circle of friends and was the recipient of many beautiful and appropriate gifts. The affair was concluded by the serving of pie a la mode and hot coffee.

Those in attendance were: Misses Mabel Jarvis, Allie Beik, Elizabeth Beik and Nellie Paullins, and Mmes. Dan Beik, Geo. Beik, J.B. Jarvis, Jacob Beik, Frank Beik, Chas. Beik, Wm. Shaw, Ed. Kemp, E.H. Dodder, J.T. Paullins, Oscar Hartsock, Wm. Beik, Hilton Beik, Fred Shew.
