Friends here were surprised to hear of the marriage of Mr. Arthur Beik to Miss Kathleen Larson, which occurred at the home of the bride's brother in Massena, Iowa, last Tuesday evening, August 20th. The ceremony was performed in the presence of a few of the near relatives of the contracting parties.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Jacob Beik, residing near Grandview and was born on the old home farm where he grew to manhood. He graduated from the Wapello high school in 1901 and for a number of years engaged in teaching. The past few years he has been taking courses in the Clark University at Worcester, Mass., and expects to return to that institution next month and will graduate in the spring. He is a model young man, well liked and admired by a host of friends. The bride's home is in Massena, Iowa, where she is held in the highest esteem by the large circle of friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Beik arrived in Wapello Tuesday afternoon and are visiting at the home of his mother, Mrs. Jake Beik, where a reception was given them last evening.

The Republican joins with friends in congratulations and best wishes.
