RESIDENT OF WAPELLO MEETS DEATH IN PECULIAR WAY

Was Assisting With the Chores Last Night, When He Met With Accident - Some Think He Had an Attack of Heart Failure.

Wapello, Ia., July 14, - (Special.) - W.A. Shew, an old and respected citizen living three and one-half miles north of Wapello, met death in a peculiar manner last evening while milking a cow. On account of the great amount of farm work, the chores were not done until a late hour and between 8 and 9 o'clock he was milking a cow in the barn, when his wife, who was on the outside, heard a peculiar noise. She rushed to her husband's side to find him lying on the barn floor with his neck dislocated. Death was almost instantaneous.

Mrs. Shew does not know whether her husband was kicked by the cow and his neck broken, or whether he had an attack of heart failure and in falling dislocated his neck.

Mr. Shew was an old man, who has lived near this place for years. He was a member of the masonic lodge at Wapello and highly respected by all who knew him.

The funeral will take place Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. M.E. Reusch of Wapello conducting the services. The Masonic fraternity will assist at the funeral. Interment will take place at Indian Creek cemetery.
