The farm residence owned by R.E. Peters, between Grandview and Letts, and occupied by Frank Peters and family was burned to the ground Tuesday morning, July 4th. Mrs. Peters discovered the fire while out in the yard and at once called for help but it had gained such a headway that it was impossible to extinguish the blaze. Some young men who were passing noticed the smoke and hurried to the scene but were able to save but a few articles. The fire started on the porch. It is thought the extreme heat reflected from the window pane on the shingles of the porch started the fire.
