Miss Gertrude Green and Mr. Hale H. Hanft were married Tuesday evening, Nov. 2 at the United Brethren parsonage at Columbus City by the Rev. R.J. Allred. The wedding was a complete surprise to all of their friends. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Green of southwest of Columbus City and is a Louisa county school teacher and is a splendid young lady. The groom is the son of Mrs. M.D. Hanft, of this city and is an industrious and good young man, who has followed the occupation of farming and will continue the same work for himself in the spring. They were given a charivari at the bride's home Wednesday evening and a miscellaneous shower at the T.M. Hanft home Thursday evening.
