James F. Allison, Resident Here 67 Years Dies; Was 92
James Franklin Allison died at the home of his son, George Allison, 508 Second street SW, Tuesday at 11:20 a.m. following a two weeks’ illness due to heat prostration. Mr. Allison was born March 20, 1844, in Genesee County, N. Y., and had been a resident of this city for sixty-seven years. He was agent and commercial agent for the old B.C.R. and N. railroad for thirty-nine years. He retired in 1908. From 1888 to 1890 and again from 1892 to 1893 he was city alderman. He was married in 1887 at Princeton, Ill., to Emma Wagner who preceded him in death several years ago. He was a trustee in the Peoples church in which he had been a member for several years. The only survivors are his two sons, George and Walter Allison, both of Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be held in the Turner chapel at a time to be announced later. Friends may call at the chapel. (The Gazette, Cedar Rapids, IA, Tue, Jul 21, 1936, pg. 11)
