THOMAS F. BERRY DESPONDENT ENDS HIS OWN LIFE
Well Known Farmer Commits Suicide at His Farm Home Monday MorningThomas F. Berry, one of the best known farmers in Linn county, and at one time clerk of Marion township, committed suicide at his farm home four and a half miles southeast of Marion Monday morning, shooting himself below the heart with a shotgun. Death was instantaneous.
The funeral services will be held from the Methodist church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Earle A. Baker and the burial will be made in Oak Shade cemetery.
Mr. Berry had been in ill health for some time and had become despondent. Mrs. Berry and one of the children, had been in Marion for some time at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Secrist.
W.H. Berry, father of the deceased, living in Vernon Heights in Cedar Rapids, and Albert Berry, a son of the deceased, found the suicide dying in the basement of the farm home. A physician was rushed from Marion but death had been practically instantaneous.
