Dale Eberhard

Dale E. Eberhard, 53, of Livermore passed away peacefully at home Sunday, July 14, 2002, after a long illness.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 305 E. Elizabeth St. Pastors Chip and Frank Winter will officiate.

Dale Eberhard was born Nov. 28, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Marvin and Hazel Eberhard and raised in Springville, Iowa. He graduated from Springville High School in 1967 and from Coe College in Cedar Rapids in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree. Dale moved to Fort Collins in 1980 from Iowa City, Iowa. Before becoming disabled, he worked for Riedman Insurance, formerly Galyardt & Harvey, for 29 years, and in the insurance industry for 39 years.

He Married Julie L. Manifold on Aug. 12, 1989, in Arcata, Calif. They made their home in Fort Collins until moving to Livermore in 1999. Dale had three children, Amy, Brent, and Cory.

Dale was a member of Peace with Christ Lutheran Church. He served as an elder, taught Sunday school, and helped get the Peace with Christ Radio Ministry started on KCOL. Dale’s faith was very much a part of his life and he always wanted to be a good witness to everyone around him.

Volunteering also was very important to Dale. Through the years he belonged to Foothills Sertoma Club, was a member of the annual Make-A-Wish gold-tournament committee, served on several committees at the Chamber of Commerce, and helped with fund raising for Colorado State University athletics.

Dale had a wonderful sense of humor, often sharing it with his coi-workers when they needed entertainment at some of their events. He had great memories of growing up on his parent’s farm in Iowa. Dale was extremely happy to be living in the mountains for the last couple of years, playing with his restored tractors (especially John Deere tractors), and feeding the rainbow trout in his pond.

Survivors include his wife, Julie; a daughter a son-in-law, Amy and Mark Swaim of Colorado Springs; two sons, Brenton Eberhard of Colorado Springs and Cory Eberhard of Fort Collins; his father Marvin Eberhard of Springville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law David and April Manifold of McKinleyville, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law Allen and Cindy Eberhard of Columbia, Mo.; four nephews, Tony Eberhard and his wife Amy, of Virginia, and Luke, Tyler, and Cody Zeller of Washington, Ind. And triplet grandchildren, Logan Quinn, and Taryn Swaim of Colorado Springs.

His mother, Hazel Eberhard and a brother-in-law, David Manifold, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Peace with Christ Lutheran Church to help with their prayer garden and columbarium, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
