Fred Burwinkle, 72, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday night at Jacksonville, Ill., according to word received Tuesday by Cedar Rapids friends. Born in Hanover, Germany, he came to the United States when 18 and located at Fort Madison, Ia. He moved to Cedar Rapids in 1905 and lived here until last March. He was a past president of the Cedar Rapids Federation of Labor, a member of Machinists union No. 262 and a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. Survivors are two brothers,
George of Cedar Rapids and Henry of Quincy, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Bernadine Bueter of Fort Madison. His wife died in Cedar Rapid in 1935. Funeral arrangements are pending.
