LINDA F. ADAMS Cedar Rapids
Linda Foster Adams peacefully passed on Sept. 9, 2022. She was born on Feb. 17, 1940, in Chicago, Ill. Her parents were John Morrell Foster and Wilma Koenig Foster. She was raised initially in Sioux Falls, S.D., and then moved to Ottumwa, Iowa, when John Morrell & Co. built its national headquarters there. She attended Mount Vernon Seminary in Washington, D.C., and continued her education at Ripon College in Ripon, Wis. She was a proud member of the Ninety-Nines, the International Organization of Women Pilots, after earning her license with the help of her great friend and instructor, Richard Bach. She participated in many local telethons and political events by flying VIPs in from Des Moines in her own Cessna 172 (N3807L). Her greatest joy was singing and playing guitar or piano and spending time with family and friends. Linda was a gifted writer and authored a subscription series for children, Luke Letters, inspired by her own favorite dog. During her years living in Texas, she enjoyed the outdoors—bow hunting and fishing alongside her second husband, Brad. Linda was an especially loving and devoted mother. The family wishes to express their deep-felt gratitude and appreciation for the caring and supportive
nurses and staff at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids during these final months of Linda’s life.
She is survived by her children, Angela Arnold Meyer (Greg), Mimi Arnold Bartley (Jack) and James Whitney Arnold (Kristal); her stepdaughters, Cori Drew (Paul) and Katy Hammer (Brent); her grandchildren, Nathan, Moriah (Logan Mulnix) and Alec Meyer, Daniela Quesada-Arnold (Joseph), Gabriella and Easton Arnold, Katelyn and Lauren Drew, and Ty and Morgan Hammer; and her very first great-grandchild, Londyn Mulnix. She was preceded in death by her adoring father and her mother; her husband, Brad Adams; her ex-husband, Bob Arnold; her brothers, Whitney and Wally; and Smokey, Josey, Freckles, Buckwheat, Cheapy, Luke, Elmo, and the rest.
The family is planning a private Celebration of Life ceremony in the Cedar Rapids area on Oct. 8.
The family asks in lieu of flowers to please consider the Antique Airplane Association in Blakesburg, Iowa, or your local ASPCA.
