Evalyn Geraldine “Geri” Mollman, 93, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Meth-Wick. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 14th at 10:00 a.m. and memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, 3715 33rd Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids. As per her request, her body has been willed to The University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.

Geri was born July 31, 1928, at home on the family farm in Clarksville, Iowa, the eldest of three daughters of Bernard and Evalyn (Eye) Wygle. She graduated from Clarksville High School and went on to attend a year at Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and then The University of Iowa, where she obtained a degree in nursing. She also met a young man that was to become her husband. Geri was united in marriage to Walter (Walt) Mollman on September 23, 1950, in Clarksville, Iowa. She was a charter member of Calvin United Presbyterian Church and later became a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church and Living Water United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, loved to sing, and was a member of the choir in each church. She had varied taste in music but especially liked Classical, and she and Walt were Orchestra Iowa season ticket holders for many years. She passed this love of music on to her family.

Geri was very involved with her family. She volunteered with her children’s school PTA and Scout groups. The grandchildren will always remember the cabinet in the kitchen that stored all the kid snacks that were readily dispensed. Geri was a consummate note writer. She never missed a birthday for any family member or friend. Many a news article was slipped inside on one topic or another. Her mind was very sharp, and she was a good listener and always had a point of view which she never minded sharing. When traveling, no matter where your destination, she knew someone and would try to get you to stop by and say hello. She had a great interest in her family ancestry and enjoyed doing research. She was also a fierce advocate for women’s rights. Geri loved nature. The grandchildren delighted in her “bird clock” with a different bird and bird call for every hour. She also enjoyed her gardens with their many lilies and Stone City bird bath. She appreciated pussy willow branches whenever she could get them. Geri always knew her own mind. When it was time to leave, it was time to leave, and she’d have her purse over her shoulder and one foot out the door usually before anyone knew what was happening!

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Walter Mollman; daughter, Mary Jean Mollman of Cedar Rapids; sons, Robert (Sue) Mollman of Cedar Rapids, and Philip (Jane) Mollman of Rosemont, Minnesota; grandchildren, Ian Seiler of Seattle, Washington, Jessica (John) Witt of Marion, Iowa, Corbin (Sarah) Mollman of Robins, Iowa, Brian (Sally) Mollman of Minneapolis, Peter Mollman and Bethany Mollman, both of Rosemont, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Landon Witt, Madelyn Witt, and Jackson Witt, all of Marion, Jameson Mollman, Samantha Jo Mollman, and Calum Mollman, all of Robins, and Charlie Mollman of Minneapolis; sisters, Jean Aboul-Ela of Denton, Texas, Mary Ellen Vernon of Lakewood, Colorado; and many loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Samantha Laura Mollman.
