Glenn “Bud” Mendel, 96, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A private family graveside service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bud was born on March 19, 1926, in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Glenn and Joan (Simmons) Mendel. He honorably served in the United States Navy during WWII. Bud enjoyed painting and woodworking. He had a great sense of humor, and was a good listener. Bud will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bud is survived by a niece, Lorna (Bill) Merritt of Springville, IA; a grandson, Andrew Synacek of Japan; great nephews, Terry Merritt of Springville, IA; Brett (Krista) Merritt of Marion, IA; Bill (Twylia) Merritt of Georgetown, TX; Tina Davis of Palm Coast, FL; Cora (Larry) Netz of Springville, IA; and many additional loving nieces, nephews, and family members.

He was preceded by his late wife, Edith in 2005. She was the love of his life.
