John Blazek, 80, of 1024 Tenth avenue SE, retired carpenter, died in an Iowa City hospital at 2:05 p.m. Sunday after a long illness. Born in Czechoslovakia March 15, 1875, he resided in the Cedar Rapids vicinity most of his life.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John F. Dwyer of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Loretta Woods of Davenport; three grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Kate Herman of Cedar Rapids.
Services will be conducted in the Brosh chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. W.H. Schulte. Burial will be in the Czech National cemetery. Friends may call a the chapel after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
