Florence (Swick) Austell, Age, 88, passed away at the Winslow House in Marion on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from Alzheimer’s surrounded by her loving family.

A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Saturday, May 7 at 11 AM with her niece, Diana Armbruster officiating. Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Garden of Tranquility.

Florence was born on April 30, 1934 in Watkins, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Delbert and Bessie (Hutton) Swick. On December 22, 1967, Florence married the love of her life, David Austell in Cedar Rapids, IA. Florence enjoyed gardening and being a member of the Red Hat Ladies.

Those left to cherish Florence’s memory are her nieces and nephews, Diana (James) Armbruster, of North Liberty, IA, Cher (Ken) Brown, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kevin Fitzsimmons of Cedar Rapids, IA, Shelly Christopherson, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Chuck (Christi) Sharp of Olin, IA, and Carl Sharp of Cedar Rapids, IA; her cat, Ginger. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters, Edna Fitzsimmons and Delores Sharp.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Winslow House and St. Luke’s Hospice, for all the care and support, they showed Florence while she was in their care.
