Suzanna “Suzi” Marie Steggall, affectionately known to her family as “Quits,” died Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Monument Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Suzi was the youngest of five children. She was born December 14, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, IA, to Lowell Arthur and Nancy Lea (Vanous) Steggall. Suzi often teased about how she was “Dad’s favorite” growing up. She lived with a free-spirit and loved hard. She enjoyed playing and creating board and card games, painting, drawing, and arts and crafts. She was a movie fanatic, loved baseball and often attended her nephew’s baseball games.
She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, IA in 1982. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Las Vegas, NV where she worked 11 years in the daycare at Nellis AFB. Suzi had a passion for teaching and caring for children. Though she never had children of her own, she helped raise all (10) of her nieces and nephews and her (14) great nieces and nephews. She was intentional about being active in their lives. In 1995 she moved to West Jordan, UT where she was a movie theatre manager. A few years later she moved once again to Rapid City, South Dakota, where she resided with her sister, brother-in-law, and roommate Shannon. While in Rapid City, she was the manager of Graffiti’s car wash up until it’s closure and she worked as the drive-thru cashier at the West Main, McDonald’s. She made many life-long friends wherever she went.
The most important things to Suzi, were her family and her pets.
Suzi is survived by her siblings, Carolyn (Steve) McBride of Rapid City, Teresa Carney of West Valley, UT, Douglas Steggall of Ocala FL, Jeffrey (LuDena) Steggall of West Jordan UT, and sister-in-law, MaryAnn Hopkins of Van Horne, IA; nieces and nephews, Sean Boddicker, Tiffany Henderson, Shanna (Spencer) Francis, Amanda Steggall, Amanda (Brian) O’Geary, Thomas “Andy” Carney, Jeffrey “Mike” Steggall, Robert “Rob” Steggall, Allison (CJ) Hester, and Samantha (Kevin) McCandless; her “greats”, Nathan, Emily, Daniel, Erin, DJ, Amiya, Chris Jr., Shinju, Ryu, Julian, Titus, Mila, Mylo, and Olly; her great-great nephew Grayson, and the friends she considered family, the Klode family, the Baker family, Cindy Rossman and Sue Klein.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brother-in-law Thomas L. Carney, brother-in-law Rick Boddicker, maternal Uncle, paternal Aunts, niece Talene Yazzie, great-nephew Tyler Francis, and her good friend Meta. She is welcomed into Heaven by her fur babies, Snow Bear, Odie, and Max.
A celebration of life will be held in her honor in Rapid City, South Dakota on July 3, 2022.
