Marion A Livingston was born June 12, 1938, near Bedford, Iowa, and entered the presence of his Savior on April 9, 2022.

Marion grew up and attended school in Bedford, Iowa, where he met a girl, took her to a movie theater in Maryville, Missouri, and enjoyed a precious time of courtship.

Marion then served in the Navy for three years. He was stationed on two destroyers – George K. McKenzie (DD-836) and USS Picking (DD-685) – in support of a carrier. Upon returning home, he resumed that romance and married the love of his life Janet Kay Akers on July 25, 1959.

After farming for a short time with his dad, in 1962 Marion moved with his bride to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and began working at Collins Radio Company. Marion continued with (Rockwell) Collins, managing several groups until his retirement in 1996.

Following retirement, Marion tried his hand at several jobs that included consulting and working at the Sears tool department. He then settled into supplying rebuilt aviation and ground communications equipment to the international market for many years through Intertrade (Collins Aerospace).

Marion stayed involved in the lives of his children and camped regularly with his family, where they spent many memorable weekends and vacations together. Marion and Jan continued traveling domestically and internationally after the kids grew up.

Marion committed his life to Jesus Christ in 1971. He served as a deacon and trustee at Immanuel Baptist Church for decades. He participated in many spiritual ministries throughout his life, such as teaching fifth-grade Sunday school, serving on the board of Cedar Rapids Christian School, and assisting in several capacities for the Walk to Emmaus community.

Marion was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Livingston; by his parents, Wayland and Addie (Stoops) Livingston of Bedford, Iowa; by his brother John (Pauline) Livingston of St. Charles, Missouri; and by his sister Betty (Carl) Fitch of West Des Moines, Iowa.

Surviving him are sister Patricia Mihalovich (Hal Gannon) of Mesa, Arizona; sister Barbara (Randy) Halbert of Great Falls, Montana; and four adult children: Jerry (Lisa) Livingston, Ken (Jolene) Livingston, Jim (Nena) Livingston, and Tina (Mike) Davis.

In addition, Marion enjoyed his 14 grandchildren: Jennifer Livingston (Austin Beattie) and Danae (Drew) Jeffrey; Calissa (Micah) Holan, Jonathan (Leslie) Livingston, Cayla (Shawn) Oden, and David (Kristy) Livingston; Casey Lozano, Miguel Alarcon, Matthew Livingston, Amy Livingston, and Sydney Livingston; and Benjamin Davis (Jennifer Meyer), Joshua Davis, and Emily Davis. His five great-grandchildren include Jessica Livingston, Felicity Livingston, Lily Holan, Weston Holan, and Norah Holan.

Marion will be missed by many dear extended family and friends. Please join us for a casual-attire, public visitation at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, 1221 First Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16. The private family funeral will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Flowers may be sent to the Westside Chapel, or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity. We praise God for graciously reuniting Marion with his kind and beautiful bride Jan, as together we all await the final resurrection.
