Donald E. Eiler, 84, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Family will greet friends and family from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Grant Hagen.

Donald was born on November 5, 1937, in Coggon, Iowa, the son of Henry “Bud” and Helen (DeWoody) Eiler. He was a 1956 graduate of Coggon High School and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from NW Missouri State in Marysville, Missouri. On August 4, 1956, Donald was united in marriage to Darlene Mae Ayers in Coggon. Donald taught Industrial Arts at East Buchanan School in Winthrop, Iowa from 1964 to 1979. He then began working for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as a Maintenance Foreman, retiring in 1998. He also worked part-time at D&N Fencing Company. Donald was an artist who enjoyed wood crafting. He also enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and spending time with his grandson and great-grandson. Donald will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Donald is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Darlene Eiler of Marion; two children, Scott Eiler and Lisa Eiler, both of Marion; grandson, Brandon Dvorsky (fiancé, Sydney Duesenberg) of Central City; great-grandson, Winston Dvorsky; great-granddaughter on the way in May, Delilah; sister, Mary Garner of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Gary (Mary Kay) Eiler; and several other brothers and sisters-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Donald’s memory may be directed to the family for a college fund for his great-grandchildren.
