Joanne Emily Brown, 79, of Marion went to be with Our Lord peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, March 11th at St Luke's Hospice.

Joanne was born on August 23, 1942, in Evanston, IL to Herman, Sr. and Mary (Roller-Marbet) Happ.

Joanne graduated from Regis High School and Kirkwood Community College. She met the love of her life shortly after high school and they married on February 3, 1962.

They had a loving marriage for 60 years. Her passion was her family. She was an avid sports fan, especially for her five sons including giving wrestling lessons in the living room. She continued this same passion for her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, gardening, playing cards, and baking. She took great pleasure in volunteering and gathering with the Regis Rockers.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband Fred, and five sons Richard (Jillian) of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph (Deborah) of Winter Garden, FL, Michael (Gina) of Robins, IA, Timothy (Kristen) of Wichita, KS and Raymond (Lori) Brown of Ely, IA. Her eighteen grandchildren Stephanie, Lauren, Brandon, Jaime, Jodi, Janele, Beverly, Matthews, Alexander, Olivia, Ethan, Natalie and Charlene, Darleese, Sarah, Zachary, Benjamin, Kayla and thirteen great grandchildren.

Surviving siblings are Tom (Lynn) Happ, Sharon Troy, brother-in-law John Carbee and sister-in-law Joanne Happ, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents Herman Sr. and Mary. Her siblings Herman Happ Jr., Carolyn Carbee and John Happ.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Private Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom from 4:00- 7:00 PM., where a vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The family would like to especially thank the wonderful care and compassion from St. Luke's ICU and Hospice Care.
