Bernice Ann Canavan, 91, of Cedar Rapids died at her home Friday, December 3, 2021. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Tuesday at St. Jude Catholic Church by Rev. Mark Murphy. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday after 9 a.m. at the church. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
Bernice is survived by her children, Judith Braun, William Canavan, John (Wendy) Canavan and Donna Canavan; and grandson, Daniel Braun.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2003.
Bernice was born on April 19, 1930 in Dickeyville, WI, daughter of Alphonse and Myra Splinter Dietzel and graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Joseph High School in Dubuque. On June 16, 1951 she married Donald Canavan in Dickeyville, and was a homemaker and mother to 4 children. Bernice was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Bernice was a self-taught organ and piano player. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, working with computers, reading, and doing arts and crafts. But most of all, Bernice loved time with her family and will be missed.
