Orville Soden, 75, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family will greet friends and family from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Grace Baptist Church located at 1461 East Post Road in Marion. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, conducted by Pastor Cecil Ballard. Committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, with military honors at Urbana Cemetery in Urbana, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is in charge of arrangements.

Orville was born on July 15, 1946, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Frank and Helen (Parker) Soden. He was a 1964 graduate of Marion High School. Orville served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War in Alaska. On Jan. 9, 1971, he was united in marriage to Rosann Sutton. Orville worked for Wilson's for 21 years then for Vetter Parks Lumber Co. for 16 years, until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church. Orville was an avid NHRA drag racing fan and a huge Dodgers fan. He loved deer hunting and fishing. Above all, family was very important to him. Orville will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Orville is survived and remembered by his wife of 50 years, Rosann Soden of Marion; two daughters, Sherri (Josh) Krapfl of Dubuque, Iowa, and Michelle Soden of Marion; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Noah, Alexis and Olivia; great-grandson, Landon; sister, Twila Rose Soden of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Richard Soden.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Orville's memory may be directed to the family.
