Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is assisting the family.

Anne was born on April 25, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of James and Mary (Goff) Burdt.

Anne was born and raised in Dubuque where she would reside for most of her life. She earned her Master's Degree in Nursing and would put her education to good use helping the clients of Cozy Corner Adult Daycare for 10 years until her retirement. Caring for the elderly was her true calling in life. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, William Smith, on December 17, 1993, at St. Dominic's Villa Chapel. They were truly blessed with 13 years of wedded bliss before he sadly passed away on August 28, 2007. Anne's faith was extremely important to her. She was a long time member of St. Columbkille's Church and was a Franciscan Associate of Mount St. Francis. In her free time, Anne enjoyed a little retail therapy, and any time she could find something special for the granddaughters she was thrilled. She liked to listen to music, especially Johnny Cash, and loved to go dancing. She also liked to keep up with current events by watching CNN, but was never one to say no to curling up and watching a good movie with the girls. Anne always took great pride in her appearance, she dressed for the occasion and her hair was always done just right. Her family was always her top priority. She encouraged everyone to continue their education and supported all of their endeavors. We are deeply saddened at losing such a wonderful woman in our daily lives. We are, however, thankful for all of the wonderful memories made and the life lessons she has taught us throughout the years.
