DUANE PAUL VOSHELL Cedar Rapids Duane Paul Voshell, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital from complications of a massive heart attack. Service: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church by pastor Bonnie Koeppen. Friends may visit on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Duane is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Valerie (Dominic) Giegerich of Anita and Anita (Josh) Davis of Dallas, Ga.; grandchildren, Collin Giegerich of Iowa City and Halie Giegerich of Anita; brother, Gary (Barb) Voshell of Peoria, Ariz.; and sister-in-law, Theresa Voshell of West Union. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lowell "Mike" Voshell. Duane was born on Dec. 5, 1940, in West Union, the son of Paul and Ethel Neumann Voshell. Duane proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. On Jan. 11, 1969, he married Carolyn Kaye Norden in Guernsey. Duane worked as a Patient Accounts Manager at St. Luke's Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 2003. Duane also was a high school football official for over 15 years. Duane dearly loved his family and never missed his daughters or his grandchildren's activities. In his younger years, he played and coached slow pitch softball. He was a die-hard Iowa Hawkeyes fan, and loved to play golf, travel, and collect antique John Deere farm toy tractors. Duane was an active volunteer at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Jefferson High School, past president of AGPAM and was involved in many other community organizations. In 2019, he was able to take the Honor Flight, an experience he enjoyed very much. Memorials may be directed to St. Mark's United Methodist Church or the St. Luke's Foundation.
