James "Jim" Robert Vislisel, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at his home. The family will greet friends and family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, located at 1224 Fifth St. SE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Rev. Aaron Junge will officiate. A private family burial will follow at Campbell Cemetery in Bertram Township in Cedar Rapids.

Jim was born on May 26, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, one of six children to Joseph Robert and Dorothy Marie (Hartl) Vislisel. On June 18, 1963, he was united in marriage to Melanii Reii Torrence in Cedar Rapids. To this union, two children were born, Mark and Ann. Jim was self employed as a farmer and a contractor until he retired in 2017. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Hawk A Model A Ford Club, and the Antique Auto Club of America (AACA). His true passion was farming, being outdoors, and raising cattle. Jim also enjoyed fishing, boating on the Mississippi River, driving his Ranger around the countryside, and traveling. Throughout the years, Jim and Melanii employed students from the Agriculture Department at Kirkwood Community College, many of which remain friends to this day. Their door was always open. Jim loved spending time with his family, dear friends, and especially his grandchildren. He was affectionately known as "Moose" by his friends and classmates. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Melanii Vislisel; two children, Mark (Lori) Vislisel of Mount Vernon, Iowa, and Ann (Tim) Kortemeyer of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Sara (Wyatt) Suess and Jay Kortemeyer; one ste-granddaughter, Elizabeth Rueschhoff; five siblings; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Vislisel.
