Ralph Richardson, 87, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Ralph was born Aug. 21, 1934, in Ecorse, Mich., the son of Archie and Bernice (Smith) Richardson. He was a graduate of Ecorse High School. On Aug. 1, 1953, Ralph was united in marriage to Barbara E. Laughman in Ecorse. He was involved in industrial sales for many years before selling insurance for Farmers Insurance Groups until retirement in 2009. Ralph was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and attended many Bible studies. He enjoyed volunteering in the community, especially with the Marion FLY (Feeding Lunches to Youth) Program. Ralph enjoyed his fellow residents at Scott Meadows, spending time with his family and his beloved cat, Sophie. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ralph is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, Stephen (Eleanor) Richardson of Ely, Cynthia Dale (Don) Carpenter of The Villages, Fla., Michael (Gayle) Richardson of Marion and Cheryl (Mark) Millsap of Olathe, Kan.; grandchildren, April Dawn (Benjamin) Kent of Erie, Colo., Christina (Mark) Crane of Independence, Mo., Stephanie Iverson of New Palestine, Ind., Kendra (Steven) Starkey of Anamosa, Ashlee (Vince) Schrock of Chicago, Ill., Taylor (Mikaela) Richardson of Cedar Rapids, Kathryn (Pete) Glasser of Overland Park, Kan., and Alison (Monte) Headley of Warrensburg, Mo.; 14 great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Bernice; and wife, Barbara.
