Casey Arthur Orton, 42, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021.

The son of Threll Orton and Kay Thurgood, Casey was born on May 2, 1979, in Farmington, Utah, where he grew up. Casey was a happy child who loved dirt bikes and was always interested in anything mechanical. He could often be found taking things apart just to see how they worked. He was also very athletic. He loved karate and had excellent coordination. As Casey got older, he enjoyed playing darts, playing video games, and riding his Harley motorcycle.

In 2001, Casey met the love of his life, Misty Slade, and they were instantly a perfect match. He adored Misty's young daughter, Christina. Casey and Misty had a beautiful baby boy, Ethan Alexander Orton, on March 27, 2004, and on May 2, 2005, Casey and Misty were married. They eventually relocated to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they made many close friends.

From a very young age, Casey was dedicated to his work. Through hard work and dedication, he became an extremely accomplished automotive technician who also had a passion for mentoring younger aspiring technicians, which he did with great patience and dedication.

Casey will be remembered as a genuine, patient man who always put his family first. He was everyone's friend and was a positive, "glass is always full," type of person. Every interaction with Casey left one feeling better.

Casey is survived by his father, Threll (Michelle) Orton of Evanston, Wyo.; his children, Christina Slade of Millcreek, Utah, and Ethan Orton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his grandmother, Ann Thurgood of Bountiful, Utah; his aunts, DeAnn Lathrop of Yukon, Okla., Patty Thurgood of Bountiful, Utah, Emma (Chuck) Huffaker of Woodruff, Utah, and Pixie (Ney) of Arizona; his uncles, Tracy (Shelly) Orton of Sandy, Utah, Shaun (Judy) Orton of Springville, Utah, and Jeff (Kim) Thurgood of Zion Crossroads, Va.; the beloved family dog, Homer; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Casey and his beloved wife, Misty, passed away together. Preceding Casey in death were his mother, Kay (Thurgood) Orton; his twin brother, Kelly Orton; his grandparents, Art and Joyce Orton; his grandfather Dean Thurgood; and his uncle, Russell Lathrop.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Antioch Christian Church in Marion, Iowa. A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. There will be a celebration of life at Lucky's on 16th in Cedar Rapids immediately after the memorial service.
