Joyce Karen Hardymon, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Oct. 18, 2021.

A funeral service celebrating Joyce's life will

be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Immanuel Baptist Church: 1900 F Ave.NW, Cedar Rapids, with The Rev. Dan Wiersema officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following church services. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 25, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughters, Laura (Brad) Klaes and Shelly (Robert Jr.) Thompson; grandchildren, Brandon and Jayden Wiley, Sam and Abby Klaes and Levi Thompson; her brother, Donald ( Zoeanna) Moore; sisters, Marilyn ( Alvin) Crawford and Marion ( Elbert) Hill; in-laws, Glenda "Sissy" Giles, Anne (Frank) Farris and Katherine " Whoopsie" Inglis; also surviving are many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Jay.

Joyce was born Oct. 16, 1947, in Stafford, Kan., the daughter of Flossie and Glenn Moore. She graduated from Fox high school and Oklahoma Baptist University. On July 2, 1972, Joyce married the love of her life, Jay Hardymon. Joyce worked for Tallgrass as an accountant and books manager, before retiring in 2014. Joyce was an active member and served God in many ways at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Joyce had a love for reading. She was a master crafter who enjoyed creating and card making. Her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren and watching NASCAR. She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Baptist Church or to the family.
