Michael Paul Valley, 44 of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Cedar Rapids died on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 of natural causes. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church by Rev. Greg Bahl. Burial: Mound Cemetery, Watkins. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Teahen Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Mike’s funeral service will be livestreamed through St. Patrick’s Facebook account at Facebook.com/stpatrickcr
Mike is survived by his son, Michael and daughter, Abigail, both of Jacksonville; parents, Barbara and Stephen Valley of Cedar Rapids; aunts and uncles Judith (Brent) Robbins of Council Bluffs, Debra (Thomas) Johnson of La Crosse, WI, Daniel (Margaret) Valley of La Crosse, WI, Cathryn Drugger of Cedar Rapids and Kay Hauke of La Crescent, MN.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Garnetta Luethye, and Maurice and Betty Valley.
Mike was born on March 25, 1977 in Cedar Rapids, son of Barbara and Stephen Luethye Valley. He attended Cleveland Grade School and graduated in 1995 from Jefferson High School. Mike was a 17 year military veteran, first serving in the Navy and then in the Army, serving as sergeant during the Iraq War. He worked for the Florida Department of Health.
Mike loved his family and enjoyed going to his kids’ many school and sporting events. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank the Wounded Warriors Project for helping Mike.
A memorial fund has been established in Mike’s name that will benefit his children’s future or to be used for masses at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
