Nancy K. Ihns, 69, of Cedar Rapids died on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at her home following a courageous battle. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1620 E Ave NE, Cedar Rapids. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Nancy is survived by her son Matthew of Ely; daughter Mégan (Zachary) Valenta of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren Alexaundra Paustian, Logan Burg, Braxton Hobbs, Maddox and Lincoln Valenta; sister Gerry (Gary) Wheeler of Cedar Rapids; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard in 2015, parents Leland and Catherine, brothers Terry, James, Robert and Leroy and sister Maxine.
Nancy was born on December 12, 1951 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Leland and Catherine Foster Wahe. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970. Nancy married Howard Ihns on November 25, 1972 at Trinity Unity Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Rockwell Collins for 42 years retiring in 2013.
Nancy enjoyed reading, shopping, watching and playing soccer in her younger years. She loved spending time with her family, friends and her cocker spaniels Milo and Matilda Jane.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the ALS Association in Howard’s memory.
