Joyce Sue Sandberg, 85, a woman of strong faith, left for her heavenly home to join her husband on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021, at Pine Acres Rehabilitation & Care Center in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.

Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial

Park Cemetery.

Joyce was born on July 3, 1936, in Winfield, Iowa, the daughter of Gaylord and Cecile (Ross) Abbott. She graduated from Fairfield High School, with the class of 1954. Joyce attended the Chicago Art Institute on a full scholarship. She worked in commercial art in Chicago after attending the Art Institute. Joyce enjoyed freelance art projects for many years after. She was united in marriage to David Sandberg on June 30, 1957, at the First Methodist Church in Fairfield, Iowa.

Joyce spoke for Christian Women's Club, as well as other women's leadership groups. She led a precept bible study for many years and was a member of Valley Church in West Des Moines, Iowa. Joyce enjoyed art, reading, and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Karin Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Lori Arndt of West Des Moines, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Connie Robertson of Columbus Junction, Iowa.

Joyce was a longtime caregiver for her husband, David Sandberg. He preceded her in death in 2008.

The family would like to thank Pine Acres & Suncrest Hospice for all the wonderful love and care given to Joyce. Also, all Joyce's family and friends who prayed, sent cards, and flowers. Were grateful for all who touched her life.
