Stephen A. Roskop, 71, of Iowa City, passed away unexpectedly of health complications on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Steve was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 28th, 1950, to Francis (Frank) and Laurel (Holmes) Roskop. Steve was the second oldest of five siblings.

There will be a military honors ceremony held at a later date to honor his life and military service. There will also be a Celebration of Life gathering on October 2 from 1-3pm at the American Legion Post 17 in Iowa City.

Stephen, as a young man, enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam in 1969. He was awarded the Bronze Star for outstanding achievement in connection with military operations and received an honorable discharge.

Steve was an avid golfer, loved playing in his pool league and spending time with his dog Chester. He had many friends in the Iowa City area that he enjoyed spending time with. He had a huge heart, and he was a generous and giving man, who never knew a stranger.

Steve was included in the US Army Corps of Engineers Veterans Trail in 2010, this was a huge honor for him. He was also inducted in 2019 to the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his rock band The Temptations.

Steve is survived by Brother, Mike (Mary) Roskop; Sister, Theresa (Roskop) Britcher; niece, Melissa (Bryan) Kirk; Sister-in-Law, Mona Roskop, nephews, Josh and Josiah, nephew Dustin Roskop (Carly), niece Leah (Nick Fletcher) and 1 dog, Chester.

He is preceded in death by his father, Francis (Frank) Joseph Roskop, mother Laurel Gladys (Holmes) Roskop, brothers, Richard Roskop and John F. Roskop.
