Allyn Gothe, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at St. Luke's Transitional Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends

from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday,

Aug. 29, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, conducted by Pastor Steven J. Qualben. Allyn's family requests

services will be held at

2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at

St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Marion. A private family burial will take place at Dunkard Cemetery in Midway, Iowa.

Allyn was born on Aug. 10, 1936, in Warren, Minn., the son of Earl and Florence (Allen) Gothe. He graduated high school in 1954 in LaPorte, Ind. Allyn went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1954-58 on the Vigil Ship. After the Navy, he attended Purdue University in Indiana, graduating in 1963 as an electrical engineer. Allyn was united in marriage to Patty Bohrer in October 1991, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He retired from Rockwell Collins after 30 years of service. Allyn was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Marion. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, shuffleboard, researching on the computer, and his bible study group. Allyn's smile and passion will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Allyn is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Patty of Cedar Rapids; one child and four stepchildren, Bret (Jeff Conrad) Gothe of West Branch, Iowa, Daryll (Beth) Bohrer of Cedar Rapids, Darwin (Noree) Bohrer of Irvine, Calif., Doug (Joy) Bohrer of Palatine, Ill., and Deborah (Eric) Eldred of Parker, Colorado; son-in-law, Andy Pantini of Marion; 12 grandchildren; and sister, Pat (Jim) Teeters of Michigan City, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Lorilynne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Allyn's memory may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in honor of Sarah Bohrer; American Heart Association in honor of Melia Bohrer; the American Cancer Society in memory of Lorilynne Pantini; or to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Marion.
