MARY RACHAEL RANDLES-HROMIDKO

Mary Rachael Randles-Hromidko, 69, of Swisher, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, surrounded by the love of her three children. A Celebration of Life gathering will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, where there will be a time for sharing and reflection starting at 6 p.m. for close family and friends. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre are in charge of arrangements.

Rachael was born Dec. 26, 1951, in New Ulm, Minn., the daughter of Bruno and Suzanne (Orth) Randles. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School, followed by Kirkwood Community College with a degree in criminal justice. Rachael was united in marriage to Dennis on Jan. 29, 1972, at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She retired from the Department of Corrections for the State of Iowa after 25 years of service. Rachael was a proud sister of nine siblings and prided herself in being the matriarch of all family history, life events and activities. Family time was the most important thing in her life.

Rachael is survived by her children, Heidi (Chad Brezina), Christine (Adam Nehre) and Michael (Cara); eight grandchildren, Kayla, Becca, Kali, Clayton, Drake, Tricia, Grace and Oakliey; her siblings, Dave (Jean) in Seattle, Wash., Joe (Steve Makowski) in New Hope, Pa., Vince (Maria) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mark (Helen) in Pueblo, Colo., Peter (Barb) in Fulshear, Texas, Bill (Kris) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Paul (Sylvia), John in Cedar Rapids and Julia (Craig) Kulish in Center Point, Iowa; as well as many extended Hromidko in-laws as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Mercy as well as the Swisher community for their care, support, and kindness.

Memorials will be dedicated to a community project in Rachael's name and can be mailed to c/o of Heidi Hromidko at P.O. Box 56, Swisher, IA 52338.
