OBITUARY
Mary Delane Alachniewicz, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, August 23, 2021 at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a short illness. Celebration of Life will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Teahen Funeral Home.
Mary is survived by her husband of 52 years, Stephen; daughters, Ginger Alachniewicz of Cedar Rapids and Tammy (Rick) Dawson of Eagle Grove; son, Todd (Jennifer) Alachniewicz of Fort Dodge; brother, Michael (Sonja) Todd; sisters, Shirley, Linda, Bessie and Patty; grandchildren, Tyler Alachniewicz, Jacob (Felicia) Dawson, Mark Dawson, Dustin Dawson, RyAnn (Nick) Kentner and Emily Dawson; great granddaughters, McKenzie and Nora Kentner.
Mary was born on November 6, 1948 in Alamagordo, NM, the daughter of Oliver and Nina Todd. A veteran of the US Marines during the Vietnam War era, she attained the rank of Lance Corporal. On October 5, 1968 she married Stephen Alachniewicz in Paris Island, SC.
Mary loved her family and family times together. She enjoyed genealogy, cooking, crocheting and knitting. Mary liked to feed the squirrels in her yard which she called her outdoor pets.
