Cedar Rapids

Edna F. Tigges, 95, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with Father Douglas Loecke as celebrant. Interment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, with a vigil service at 3:30 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Edna was born on June 10, 1926, in Templeton, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Ida (Uhlenkamp) Willenborg. Edna was united in marriage to Raymond R. Tigges on May 11, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning, Iowa. After she and Ray moved to Cedar Rapids, Edna spent most of her life as a homemaker, caring for her home and family. She was a devoted member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and Bernette's Circle since the early 1960s, and an active participant in many facets of parish life. Edna was a devoted mother and grandmother and truly enjoyed her active family.

Edna is survived by her children, Allan (Barb) of Tucson, Ariz., Diane (Scott) Koehnk of YNP, Wyo., and David (Valerie) of Cedar Rapids; son-in-law, Marty (Kelly) Ross of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Leo (Darlene) Willenborg of Manning; and sister, Elaine Huelshorst of Carroll. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Ardella Willenborg of Manning, Norma Willenborg of Omaha, Susie Davis of Glidden, Louann Tigges of Willey and Agnes Tigges of Des Moines; and brother-in-law, Marvin "Barney" Lampe of Carroll.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; daughter, Carolyn Ross; and siblings, Bernice Nabor, Tarsilla Lampe, Henry Willenborg Jr., Marvin Willenborg and Jeanette Lampe.

Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Catholic Church, the Oldorf Hospice House or Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer.
