FAYE ELIZABETH GILLESPIE Cedar Rapids Faye Elizabeth Gillespie, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 26, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services: noon Thursday, Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service. Faye is survived by her husband of 24 years, Jeff; children, Eric Jeffries of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer Gillespie of Pella, Laura (Lance) Johnston and Brandy Gillespie, both of Eddyville, and James (Kinzy) Gillespie of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; sister, Kala Hill of Ames; brothers, Joel (Colleen) Jeffries of Chicago and Lyle (Karla) Jeffries of Polk City; mother-in-law, Pat Landt of Cedar Rapids, whom she shared a special bond with; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and her dogs, Polly and Peaches. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jason Jeffries; and brother-in-law, Kenton Hill. Faye was born Oct. 31, 1960, in Madison, S.D., the daughter of Jack and Ruth (Conner) Jeffries. She graduated in 1979 from Vinton High School and received a LPN degree from Kirkwood. Faye worked as a nurse for the Views and West Ridge Care Center for several years. On July 20, 1997, she married Jeffrey Gillespie in his mother's backyard in Center Point. Faye enjoyed walking her dogs, looking at Cavachon websites and playing slots on the computer. She played pool and golf in her younger years and was given the nickname "Par" Faye. She was a fan of the Chicago Bears and of Walter Peyton, and of NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace. Faye loved being with her family and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Memorials may be directed to the family or the Animal Rescue League.
