Gordon Ralph Scott, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died on June 21, 2021, in his home

following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruth, his children, Janet (Gary) Runyan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Elizabeth "Beth" Scott of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and James "Jim" (Tonya) Scott of Ankeny; and his brother, Michael (Chris) Kriegel of Toledo, Iowa. Also surviving are grandchildren, Cory Runyan, Scott (Leah) Runyan, Crystal (Corey Shea) Lorenz, Ashley (Tomas "TJ" Stuart) Lorenz and Andrew Scott; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Parker, Cohen, Madalyn, Evelyn and Otto; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Gordon was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Algonac, Mich., the son of Melvin and Elizabeth (Thompson) Scott. He married Ruth A. Feisel on Nov. 14, 1954, in Tama, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, John Kriegel; sister, Donna Zimple; a sister in infancy; brothers, Nicholas "Nick" Kriegel and Ronald "Ronny" Kriegel; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Kriegel.

Gordon was a Firefighter for the Cedar Rapids Fire Department for over 30 years and a civilian employee following his retirement. He spent many years selling sporting goods throughout the state. He was involved with American Legion Baseball for over 20 years on the local, State, Regional and National levels. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, the American Legion in Tama, and the VFW in Cedar Rapids. Gordon served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea, during the Korean conflict. Gordon received his service medals and awards from Senator Tom Harken during a ceremony on June 8, 2001.

He and Ruth enjoyed spending time with their friends at the Meskwaki Casino. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV. One of Gordon's greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
