MARVIN "PAUL" HOLSTEIN Marion
Marvin "Paul" Holstein, 65, of Marion died on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Paul was an incredibly loyal friend who was always there for others. He marveled at bringing joy to many through his deep care for others and his selfless acts of generosity and kindness. Service details are pending and will be shared at a later date. Paul was born in Early, Iowa, on Oct. 29, 1955, and was the son of Marvin Lee and Marjorie Grace (Mullins) Holstein. He was raised on the family farm in Early. Paul had a passion for music that began at a young age. He had the honor all four years of his high school of being selected to attend the All-State Choral Festival. After graduating from Crestland High School in 1974, he attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, obtaining a degree in music education. He began his music teaching career in 1978 at Marcus High School before moving to Storm Lake High School the following year. He enjoyed playing golf during his summers off from teaching. He later went on to receive his master's degree from the University of Iowa in 1986. On April 24, 1992, he married the love of his life Diane "Annie" and became the stepfather to a daughter, Molly Camerer. They made their home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Paul began a new career in sales in 1995. He worked for Iowa Office Supply, which later would move his family to Marion, Iowa, in 1996. Paul remained active in sharing his musical gifts and talents over the years. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marion, where he was a choir member and directed the Chancel Choir. He also shared his amazing voice with many as a member of the Chorale Midwest and for countless family celebrations. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Marjorie Holstein of Early, Iowa; a daughter, Dr. Molly (Ben Rose) Camerer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandsons, Felix and Oscar; sister, Lee (Ron) Calkins of Fort Pierre, S.D.; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Annie Holstein; and his father, Marvin Holstein. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chorale Midwest, P.O. Box 2631, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406 in Paul's memory.
